Basic recipe with variations
Dissolve the butter, salt, and sugar in the warm water, then stir in the yeast, finally the egg, and then the flour. Let the dough rest for 30 minutes. Form 6 rolls and place them on a baking sheet, then let it rest for another 10 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven and bake the rolls at 175 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes, until they are golden yellow. The perfect, quick, and easy roll dough. The rolls will be nice and light and easy to make, even for beginners. For each variation, prepare the dough as described in the basic recipe. Cheese rolls: Add a little grated cheese to the dough, form rolls, and top with cheese (e.g., Gouda), then bake. Cheese and ham rolls: Briefly fry ham cubes and then knead them into the dough, then top the rolls with cheese, then bake. Cheese and pepper rolls: Cut red or yellow peppers into very small cubes and then knead them into the dough, form rolls, top the rolls with cheese, and bake. Caraway or poppy seed rolls: Sprinkle caraway or poppy seeds on the formed rolls, then bake. Hamburgers or hot dogs: Shape the rolls into long, oblong shapes for hot dogs or hamburgers. Add a whole teaspoon of sugar. For sweet rolls, use a tablespoon of sugar. Instead of water, you can also use milk or buttermilk. For delicious raisin rolls, knead raisins into the dough. Or you can shape the dough into pretzels. Fill the rolls with Nutella, jam, plum jam, or canned peach pieces.
