Savory corn cake

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 750 g corn semolina
  • 150 g wheat flour, 405
  • 2 packets of baking powder
  • 500 g natural yogurt
  • 200 ml oil
  • 6 eggs
  • 3 tsp salt
  • 200 ml carbonated mineral water

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Proja – my favorite recipe, as a starter, side dish to the main course or for cold platters

Mix all ingredients well and bake in a large, greased baking sheet at 200°C/fan/on the bottom rack of a preheated oven for about 40 minutes until golden brown. If you use a smaller baking sheet, it will take longer. After baking, cut into desired squares and serve warm or cold. This proja is the basic recipe, but it can be adapted. See my recipe “Savory Corn Cake with Cheese and Spinach.” It goes well with mushroom ragout, tzatziki, meatballs, Serbian bean soup, chili con carne, or with natural yogurt and ham for breakfast.
