Gratinated ham spaetzle

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 500 g flour, smooth
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 large onion(s)
  • 1 garlic clove(s)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 300 g ham
  • 100 ml vegetable stock
  • ½ pack of herbs (frozen-8 herbs)
  • 250 ml whipped cream
  • Salt
  • 300 g cheese, grated Gouda

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes

Make a spaetzle dough from flour, eggs, oil, salt, and milk. Immediately strain the dough through a spaetzle sieve into boiling salted water. Cook for 5 minutes, then strain. Finely chop the onion and sauté it in butter with the crushed garlic clove. Add the finely chopped ham and pour in the vegetable stock. Stir in the herb mixture and cream, and season to taste. Combine the sauce and half of the cheese with the spaetzle and pour into a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 20 minutes.
