Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 1 kg pear(s), ripe and juicy
- 500 g gelling sugar 2:1
- 1 tonka bean(s)
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 3 minutes; Total time approx. 33 minutes
for approx. 6 jam jars of 200 ml each
Cut the peeled and cored pears into very small pieces. Mix with the gelling sugar in a large saucepan. Grate in the tonka bean using a nutmeg grater. Add the last bit of bean that can’t be grated to the pan and cook, then remove it later. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Follow the preparation instructions on the gelling sugar package. The jam is usually boiled for 3-4 minutes at a rolling boil. Then remove the piece of tonka bean and fill the jam into clean, sterile jars and seal them. This quantity is enough for about 6 jars of 200 ml each. The tonka bean gives the jam a light vanilla flavor.
