Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 kg cornelian cherries
  • 500 ml water
  • 1,600 g sugar, normal household sugar
  • 1 vanilla pod(s), pulp

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour

Place the cornelian cherries in a pot with water and boil thoroughly for about 10 minutes, until the flesh separates from the stones. Then pass the pulp through a food mill. Then, using a spoon or whisk, pass the pulp and stones separately through a fine sieve. Then add the vanilla seeds and sugar to the pulp and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Towards the end, the pulp will settle to the bottom. Pour into rinsed jars, close, turn upside down for a few minutes, and dispense.
