Plum and apple jam

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 500 g plum(s), pitted, prepared, weighed
  • 500 g apples, peeled, prepared and weighed
  • 500 g gelling sugar, 2:1

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 49 minutes

First, peel, core, and cut the apples into small pieces. Then, peel the plums (you can leave the skin on if you like) by briefly pouring hot water over them (just like you would peel tomatoes). Stone the fruit and cut it into small pieces. The sliced apples and plums should weigh a total of 1 kg. Place everything in a large pot (the fruit should only reach about halfway into the pot) and boil briefly until the apples have softened slightly. The whole thing can now be pureed, depending on how fine you want the jam. Return everything to the pot and add the sugar. Then simmer for about 4 minutes while stirring. To test, place a small amount of the jam on a plate and check whether it has set. In the meantime, rinse the jam jars with hot water and set aside. Then fill the jars with the jam (this works best with a funnel), seal tightly, and turn upside down for a few minutes.
