Vanilla milk soup with snow dumplings, grandma's style

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 12 g cornstarch
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • some salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tbsp water, cold for mixing
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1 egg white
  • 25 g sugar

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Whisk the cornstarch, vanilla sugar, a pinch of salt, and egg yolk with the water. Heat the milk. Slowly stir the cornstarch into the boiling milk, which has been removed from the heat, and bring to a boil briefly. Whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form and sweeten with the sugar. Scoop small dumplings from the egg whites, place them on top of the hot, but no longer boiling, soup, cover the pot, and let the dumplings set for about 5 minutes.
