Homemade mulled wine

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 1 bottle of dry red wine
  • 2 anise (star anise)
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
  • 5 carnations
  • 1 lemon(s) or lime (untreated)
  • e.g. sugar (rock candy or cane sugar)

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

Squeeze the lemon/lime. Pour the red wine into a saucepan. Add the spices and sugar. Heat, but do not boil. Let it steep over very low heat for about 20 minutes. Add the lemon/lime juice. Add more sugar if desired. Pour the hot mulled wine into a heatproof glass and drink while it’s hot. Tip: If you’re starting to get a cold, this mulled wine is a really good way to nip it in the bud.
