Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 eggs
  • 120 g sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 280 g flour (spelt flour)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 150 g walnuts, finely chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Whisk the eggs, sugar, and salt until thick and foamy, then stir in the flour mixed with the baking powder. Finally, stir in the walnuts. Divide the dough into 4 pieces. On a floured surface, form 4 logs and place them on a prepared baking sheet. Bake in the oven at 180°C for 20 minutes. While still warm, cut into approximately 1/2 cm thick slices and let them dry in the oven at residual heat or at 50°C (approx. 3/4 hour). These nutcrackers are a very long-lasting pastry and are delicious for dipping, nibbling with creams, or mulled cider. Substitute nuts with raisins, dried prunes, dried apricots, etc. Good luck!
