Elderberry liqueur

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 30 elderflower umbels
  • 1 ½ liters of water
  • 450 g sugar
  • 50 g citric acid
  • 2 bottles of schnapps (Doppelkorn 38% vol.)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Rest period approx. 2 days; Total time approx. 2 days 15 minutes

with elderflowers, makes about 4 bottles

Shake the elderflowers (do not wash) and place them in a large pot or a sealable bowl. Bring the water and sugar to a boil, let them cool to lukewarm, and then pour over the flowers. Sprinkle the citric acid over the elderflowers and pour over the Doppelkorn schnapps, stirring to combine. Store covered in the cellar for 48 hours, then strain and bottle. The liqueur is ready to drink.
