Sauerkraut stew

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g sauerkraut, mild
  • 500 g smoked pork or cooked knuckle meat
  • 1 pack of soup vegetables, frozen
  • 500 ml broth
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • Garlic
  • 4 m.-sized potatoes
  • 1 m.-sized onion(s)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Peel and dice the potatoes, and boil them in salted water until tender. Dice the onion, garlic, and meat. Sauté the smoked pork or ham hock, onion, and garlic in a pan with a little oil until the onions are translucent. Add the soup vegetables and broth and bring to a boil. Season to taste. Stir in the sauerkraut and potatoes. Bring everything back to a boil briefly, then serve.
