Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 500 g flour
- 1 packet of yeast (dry yeast)
- 1 bread roll, dried
- 400 ml water, lukewarm
- 4 tbsp oil
- ½ tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes
Large dumplings
Sift the flour into a bowl, mix in the yeast, salt, and sugar. Cut the dried bread roll into small pieces and mix it in. Add the oil and knead it into dough with lukewarm water (best done by hand). If the dough is still quite wet, you can add more flour. Then cover the dough and leave it in a warm place to rise for about 45-60 minutes. Fill a large pot 3/4 full with water and stretch a tea towel tightly over it with a rubber band. Make sure the towel is off the stovetop. I stretch it lengthwise between the handles and then simply fold it over the rubber band at the top and bottom. Bring the water to a boil. Place the risen dough on the tea towel and cook for about 60 minutes with a bowl that fits snugly over the pot. It sounds complicated, but it isn’t. Cut the dumpling in half and cut the halves into slices. We eat it with all kinds of meat and poultry. I got the recipe from my grandma, and we haven’t gotten tired of it yet.
