Red wine jelly

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 750 ml red wine, semi-dry (e.g. Dornfelder)
  • 500 g gelling sugar (2:1)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 4 minutes; Total time approx. 19 minutes

makes 5 glasses of 250 ml each

Boil 5 jars (250 ml each) or place them in a sterilizer, then dry. Place the gelling sugar in a large saucepan (this prevents it from boiling over). Then pour the wine into the saucepan with the gelling sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring, then continue to boil for 4 minutes, stirring constantly. After 4 minutes, test for setting. To do this, pour a little jelly onto a plate and check whether it sets and no longer runs off the plate. If necessary, simmer a little longer and repeat this test! However, do not exceed the cooking time of 8 minutes. Pour the jelly to the brim into the prepared jars and seal them immediately. Then let it cool. The red wine jelly will keep for at least 1 year.
