Baked schnitzel

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 8 pork schnitzels (Lummerschnitzel)
  • 8 m.-sized onion(s)
  • 400 g ham, cooked
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 400 g sweet cream
  • Salt
  • pepper
  • Paprika powder (sweet)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • Soy sauce

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest period approx. 1 day; Total time approx. 1 day 30 minutes

prepare the day before

Fry the schnitzels for 2-3 minutes on each side. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Dice or thinly slice the onions and fry them in the pan. Lightly sauté the diced ham. Add the breadcrumbs and cream and cook until slightly firm. Season the sauce to taste with spices, mustard, and soy sauce. Place the schnitzels in a baking dish and spread the sauce over them, cover, and let stand overnight. Cook at 125-150°C for about 1.5 hours. Serve with rice, baguettes, or fries. The sauce can be modified with streaky bacon and refined with mushrooms and milk.
