Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 200 ml oil
  • 200 ml milk, lukewarm
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cube of yeast, fresh
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp kernels (sour cherry kernels), ground
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 400 g flour
  • some margarine (Sana Margarine) to coat the balls*
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

Working time approx. 1 hour; Rest time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 50 minutes

Place all ingredients, except the flour, in a mixing bowl, mix, and gradually add the flour to form a smooth dough. Let the dough rise in a warm place for one hour. Form the dough into balls (the size of a lemon). Roll out the balls by hand, brush with margarine, roll them up, and let them rest for about 5-10 minutes. Twist the rolled balls by hand and form them into a wreath. Place the wreaths, spaced apart, on a baking sheet and let them rise for about 30 minutes, then brush with egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C for about 20 minutes. Enjoy! *If you use Sana margarine, you’ll need to heat the margarine a bit, as Sana margarine is very thick.
