All-round salad dressing

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 half onion(s)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • some pepper
  • 2 tbsp oil (sunflower oil)
  • 1 tbsp vinegar (preferably from Gebhardt! Not spiced vinegar!)
  • possibly herbs, various fresh ones, such as chives or dill

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 10 minutes

according to grandpa’s recipe

Dice the onion and place it in a bowl with the sugar and salt. Mix everything well and press down firmly with a spoon. Let it rest for about 15-20 minutes until the onions have absorbed some of the water (this is very important for the flavor of the dressing). Now stir in the pepper, oil, and vinegar, and finish with chopped herbs. This recipe is suitable for all kinds of salads (tomato salad, cucumber salad, leaf salad, Greek salad, etc.). If you prefer it a little creamier, you can also stir in some sour cream, cream, or crème fraîche at the end. This tastes particularly delicious with Chinese cabbage.
