Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g sugar
  • 400 g almond flakes
  • 200 g butter or margarine
  • 2 packets of vanilla sugar
  • 4 tbsp milk
  • 600 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 300 ml milk
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 80 g butter

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

For the almond glaze, melt the sugar, butter, and vanilla sugar in a saucepan. Then gradually stir in the milk and flaked almonds. Allow the mixture to cool. Now prepare the yeast dough as follows: Dissolve the yeast and honey in a little lukewarm milk. Place all the other ingredients in a bowl, add the yeast, honey, and milk mixture, and knead into a smooth dough. Cover the dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place until it has significantly increased in volume (approx. 30 minutes). Briefly knead the risen dough, divide it in half, and spread it onto two baking sheets. Spread the cooled almond glaze evenly between the two baking sheets. Bake the cake at 150°C – 160°C (fan oven, middle rack) for approx. 15-20 minutes.
