Ingredients for 12 servings:
- 75 g butter, soft
- 170 g sugar
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 lemon(s), peel
- 2 eggs
- 150 g flour
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 200 g cornstarch
- 125 g powdered sugar
- 4 tbsp orange juice
Instructions
Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes
Cream the butter until creamy, then gradually add the sugar, vanilla sugar, lemon zest, and eggs. Beat until the sugar is completely dissolved. Sift the flour, baking powder, and cornstarch over the mixture and mix well. Preheat the oven to 230°C and line a baking tray with baking paper. Place 2 tablespoons of batter on each baking tray. Keep them apart, as the batter will spread. Bake the American cookies for about 10 minutes. For the glaze, mix the icing sugar and orange juice in a bowl until the mixture is smooth and no longer lumps. Allow the American cookies to cool thoroughly on a wire rack. Then spread the orange glaze over the bottom. The glaze should be dry before serving.
