Grease a baking dish and cut the rolls into approximately 1 cm thick slices. Peel, quarter, core, and thinly slice the apples. Alternate layers of rolls and apples in the dish, sprinkle with almonds, and drizzle with honey. Whisk together the milk, eggs, the remaining sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla essence, pour over the casserole, and let stand for 10 minutes. Bake in a preheated oven at 155°C (300°F) for approximately 60 minutes. Tip: Add a spicier twist to the onion bread and bacon bits.
