fruity, spicy, sweet
Use one large or two small cups of oatmeal as the base for this recipe, which makes about 4 servings. Combine all ingredients except the nuts in a large saucepan and simmer gently for about 40 minutes. Tip: Oatmeal works best in a rice cooker with slow cooking. Stir the ground nuts into the oatmeal and let it cool slightly before serving, or serve cold. This is a wonderfully flavorful variation on the typical American breakfast oatmeal. It tastes great warm and fresh from the pot, but just as delicious cold from the refrigerator, and can easily be frozen for longer storage.
