Apple Strips
The perfect apple strips recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 300 g Flour
- 150 g Cold butter in small pieces
- 70 g Cold clarified butter in small pieces
- 1,5 tbsp Sugar
- 0,75 tsp Salt
- 80 ml Ice cold water
- 200 g Applesauce
- Cinnamon
- Raw cane sugar
- Put the flour together with the sugar, salt, cold butter, cold clarified butter and cold water in a bowl and knead very well with your hands to form a smooth dough. Then divide this into two parts and wrap it in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 5 hours.
- Then preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Now roll out both doughs into two equal rectangles. Place a rectangle on the baking sheet and spread the apple sauce on it, leaving about 1 cm free at the edge. Sprinkle some cinnamon over the applesauce. Now place the second sheet of dough on top and press down firmly on the edges.
- Now cut the plate with a dough wheel dipped in flour into about 3 cm wide (if necessary adjust the length as well) and pull the strips apart a little. Now sprinkle the strips of dough with raw cane sugar and bake on the lowest rack for 20 minutes and then leave to cool.
