Apple turnovers

Spread the love

Ingredients for 12 servings:

  • 450 g puff pastry, frozen
  • 50 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg powder
  • 1 large apple, sour (egBoskop)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

Working time approx. 25 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Wash the apple, quarter it, and remove the core. Coarsely grate the quarters and toss with lemon juice. In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cinnamon powder, nutmeg, and grated apple. Preheat the oven to 180°C (top/bottom heat). Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Place the frozen puff pastry sheets next to each other on the countertop and let them thaw. Cut the puff pastry sheets in half crosswise to create 10 cm squares. Place 1 tablespoon of apple filling in the center of each square and brush the edges with a little water. Then fold the squares into a triangle, pressing the edges together firmly; this is best done with a fork. Place the apple turnovers on the baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven on the middle rack for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.
