Ingredients for 6 servings:
- 750 g apples, sour
- 250 g wheat flour
- 9 g baking powder (3 teaspoons)
- 25 g sugar (1 heaped tbsp)
- 1 egg(s)
- 250 ml milk
- Oil, lard or coconut oil, for frying
- 50 g sugar, for sprinkling
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 minutes; Total time approx. 32 minutes
Peel the apples, core them, and cut them into 1cm thick rings. For the batter, sift the flour mixed with the baking powder into a bowl, make a well in the center, and add the sugar and the egg beaten with a little of the milk. Now, starting in the center, mix the egg and flour. Add enough of the remaining milk to make a thick batter, making sure there are no lumps. Dip the apple slices into the batter and fry in the hot oil for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. After baking, sprinkle with sugar and serve warm as a dessert. Variation: Instead of the apple slices, use rhubarb or banana pieces, apricot or peach halves, or pineapple or pear slices.
