Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 tbsp vinegar (white wine vinegar)
- Salt
- 8 tbsp flour (wheat flour)
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 4 tbsp water
- Butter, for frying
Instructions
Working time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 25 minutes
Bring a good 2 liters of water to a boil with vinegar and salt. Wash and peel the celery stalks, then cut them into 1 1/2 cm thick slices. Add them to the boiling water and cook for 30-40 minutes. Whisk a tablespoon of flour with the baking powder and water. Let the celery slices cool slightly, sprinkle them with a little salt, and then toss them first in the flour and baking powder mixture, and then in the remaining flour. Fry the breaded celery slices in butter until crispy and golden brown. Serve with lamb’s lettuce and mashed potatoes!
