Baked fillet steak Italian style

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 beef fillet(s) (steaks)
  • 8 slices of Parma ham
  • 2 balls of mozzarella
  • 2 tomatoes
  • basil
  • Rapeseed oil
  • Salt
  • pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes

Preheat oven to 90°C. Briefly rinse the fillet steaks and pat dry on both sides. Heat rapeseed oil in a pan and sear the steaks for about 1 minute on each side. Remove and season both sides with pepper and salt. Then continue to sear for about 3 minutes on each side at medium heat. Place the steaks in an ovenproof dish and cook in the oven at 90°C with fan for about 10 minutes. In the meantime, slice the tomatoes and mozzarella. Remove the steaks from the oven and cover or wrap them with the Parma ham. Place the tomatoes on the ham and then arrange the mozzarella slices on top. Return the steaks to the oven and bake at 220°C for about 8 minutes until golden brown. Garnish with basil and serve.
