Banana halva

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 6 m.-large banana(s) (not plantains)
  • 250 g clarified butter
  • 250 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom
  • some water

Instructions

Working time approx. 5 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

Peel and slice the bananas. Heat the clarified butter in a pan and wait until it melts. Then add the banana slices and fry until they are soft and some of the banana slices crumble into a pulp. Gradually add the sugar, cardamom, and water and mix well. Simmer the bananas over low heat until the water has evaporated and the mixture begins to thicken. It will thicken further as it cools. The banana halva is ready to serve and eat. In India, it is often served after dinner.
