Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 4 pretzel sticks
  • 2 slice(s) Leberkäse, Bavarian
  • 2 onions, red
  • 2 gherkins
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp water
  • chili flakes
  • e.g. salt and pepper
  • oil

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 35 minutes

Halve the Leberkäse and cut into strips. Fry in a pan with a little oil until nicely browned and crispy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Peel the onions, halve them, and slice them thinly. Sauté in a pan with a little oil until soft. Add 2 tablespoons of water if desired. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey and briefly glaze the onions. Thinly slice the cucumbers. Place the ketchup in a small bowl and garnish with chili flakes, if desired. Place the mayonnaise and mustard in another bowl and mix together. Heat the pretzel sticks in the oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) on the middle rack for approx. 3-5 minutes. Make a cut lengthwise on the top, but do not cut all the way through. Now slightly stretch the cut pretzel sticks apart so that you can fill them. Place 1/4 of the fried Leberkäse into each stick. Arrange the cucumber slices and glazed onions on top, as desired, and drizzle with some mustard mayonnaise and chili ketchup. Serve warm.
