Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 large onions
  • 6 large red bell peppers
  • 8 large tomatoes
  • 20 g butter
  • some salt
  • some water
  • some oil (olive oil), extra

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peperonata

Put olive oil and a little butter in a pan, sauté the diced onions, then add the pepper strips with salt and a splash of water and sauté for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, add the tomatoes and sauté for another 30 minutes. Cover for the first 15 minutes and uncovered for the second, and don’t forget to stir. The total cooking time is 45 minutes. It tastes particularly good with grilled or boiled meat. My tip: Place toast on a baking tray, spread the peppers on top, add a slice of cheese, add oregano or basil and bake the whole thing.
