Berry Crumble

Spread the love

Ingredients for 8 servings:

  • 250 g muesli (fruit muesli)
  • 250 g brown sugar
  • 100 g almond(s), ground
  • 100 g flour (whole wheat flour)
  • 1 vanilla pod(s)
  • 2 pinches of salt
  • 250 g butter
  • 1 kg berries (e.g. raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, currants)

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Mix the fruit muesli, sugar, almonds, flour, scraped vanilla pod, and salt. Melt the butter and slowly add it. Mix everything with the dough hook of a food processor; the crumble should form. Rinse the fresh berries, drain well, and place them in a large, preferably shallow ovenproof dish. If using frozen fruit, sprinkle them into the dish from frozen. Sprinkle the crumble over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 175°C (top/bottom heat) for 30 to 40 minutes. Serve while still warm. A few more notes: if the fruit is very sour (e.g., red currants), sprinkle an additional 3-4 tablespoons of sugar over the fruit. This dessert is delicious on its own, but also with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. As a variation, sprinkle a tablespoon of flaked almonds over the crumble before baking. The dessert can also be prepared 2-3 hours before baking and stored unbaked, covered, in the refrigerator.
