The washing machine is the indispensable “helper” of many housewives. However, not everyone knows that there are things that absolutely must not be done with the washing machine.
Why the washing machine can break down
Many people do not realize that the failure of the washing machine can occur not only because of mechanical damage. What should you do to make your washing machine last longer? Of course, check the pockets of your clothes and do not allow coins, jewelry, and other “surprises” to end up in the machine. Washing machine repairs are expensive, so don’t put those things in your washing machine:
- pillows with a memory effect (orthopedic pillows during washing can tear and clog the drain with fine filler),
- clothes with pet hair on them (this hair will get stuck in the drum, clog the filter, and the rest of it will still remain on the clothes and will not wash out),
- clothes with stones or sequins (obviously, such jewelry can easily come off or peel off, and breakage of the washing machine is inevitable),
- mats with rubber backing (while washing the mats may tear and clog the drain, in addition, the machine will get a serious load)
- items with stains from flammable substances (such stains can catch fire, which will end not only with a breakdown of the washing machine but also in a fire)
- Bras (small clasps and bones will easily cause breakage, and the underwear itself does not always “survive” washing in the machine),
- things that are too small (clothes or items that are smaller than gloves get clogged in the drain holes),
- waterproof clothes (everything is obvious – the machine will not be able to wash such things, in addition, it will not be able to drain all the water)
The washing machine broke down – how to open the door
Sometimes it happens that after washing, the machine leaves things “hostage” and does not let you open the door. But everything is solved very simply. Turn off the machine (remove the plug from the socket), and after a few minutes the door can open, and you will hear a characteristic click. Or after 20 minutes, you can try to turn the machine on again, the system can “develop” and unclog the mechanism.
If this does not help, run any washing program. Before starting the machine will check whether the hatch is closed, and before that it will automatically release the lock.
Your washing machine is broken – how to drain the water
If the machine suddenly stopped washing and nothing helps to “resuscitate” it – it is important to drain the water. Leaving the drum with water is dangerous, you may be waiting for a flood. To drain the water, open the lid of the filter, which is located at the bottom of the machine, and from there you need to get an emergency drain tube. Beforehand, it is important to prepare a container where you will drain the water. The tube must be directed into this container, after which the water will drain.
How to reset the washing machine
If the washing machine does not turn on, and the indicators are lit, then the control board could break down. Only masters will be able to fix such a breakdown, but sometimes a simple reset of the machine will save you.
To do this, you need to completely disconnect the machine from the mains by removing the plug from the socket. Then you can wait a few minutes and turn it back on.
