They Won’t Stick and Won’t Fall Apart: How to Boil Dumplings Correctly and Deliciously

Regardless of whether you have store-bought or homemade dumplings, they cook the same way. You can cook them in different ways – on the stove, in the microwave, or in the multicooker.

How to cook dumplings with the addition of cold water – proportions

The first rule – frozen dumplings do not need to defrost, otherwise, they will stick together. For half a kilo of dumplings it is optimal to take 1.5 liters of water, but if you need a rich broth – a liter of water will be enough. The main tip – the liquid should completely cover the dumplings, otherwise they will stick together and boil.

Ideally, if you also salt the water, and while the dumplings are boiling, add 1-2 bay leaves and a few peas of black pepper. If you are afraid that the dumplings will stick, add 1-2 tbsp of vegetable oil. Additionally, you can season the dish with your favorite spices and throw half an onion in the water – this clever move will improve the taste.

Pour the required amount of water into a container and put it on the fire. After the water becomes hot but does not boil, add spices and vegetable oil. Put the dumplings in the water and stir immediately, so that they do not stick together. Bring the water to a boil until the dumplings float to the surface. When this happens, turn down the heat and cook the dish for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. At the end of the process remove them with a slotted spoon, put them into a bowl, and serve with sour cream.
