Bratwurst tomatoes

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 6 beefsteak tomatoes
  • 3 sausages, e.g. Thuringian
  • 3 slices of cheese

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Wash the beefsteak tomatoes and remove the stems in a cone shape. Cut a top off the tomatoes and set aside. Remove the insides of the tomatoes with a teaspoon and discard. Fill the hollowed-out tomatoes with the sausage mixture, leaving a little overhang—but not too much, as the mixture will expand in the oven. Replace the tomato lids and place the stuffed tomatoes in a baking or casserole dish. Then bake the whole thing at 200-220 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat) for 20 minutes. Halfway through the baking time, place half a slice of cheese on each tomato and finish baking.
