Bread Cheese Casserole with Pears

The perfect bread cheese casserole with pears recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 20 ml Oil
  • 420 g Stale bread
  • 500 g Appenzeller cheese
  • 160 g Fresh onion
  • 3 piece Free range eggs
  • 160 ml Milk
  • 180 ml Cream
  • 450 gr Cream curd
  • 480 gr Canned pears
  • Freshly grated nutmeg
  • Salt
  • Hot pepper
  • Pepper Gourmet from my KB
  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees
  2. Grease the casserole dish well with oil
  3. Cut the bread and onion into thin slices
  4. Grate Appenzell cheese (any other stronger type can also be used) with the hash browns
  5. Cover the bottom of the baking dish with a layer of bread – then spread onion slices and pears on top, then a layer of cheese and repeat this until the dish is full
