Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 5 rolls, stale
  • 1 egg(s)
  • 250 ml milk
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 liters of water
  • nutmeg
  • marjoram
  • Parsley, chopped

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Cut the rolls into thin slices, mix the milk with the egg and spices (except for the parsley) in a tall mug, then whisk well. Place the roll slices in a large bowl and pour the milk over them. Let them stand for 10 minutes. Bring two liters of water with 1 teaspoon of salt to a boil. Chop the parsley and add it to the dough. Using wet hands, form the dough into dumplings. Use a slotted spoon to lower the dumplings into the boiling water. Pour a cup of cold water over them and reduce the heat to low. Let them simmer for 15-20 minutes. Remove the finished dumplings from the salted water with a slotted spoon and let them drain slightly. Place them on a plate and serve with sauce.
