Broccoli with Mild Ham Sauce
The perfect broccoli with mild ham sauce recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
- 1 head Fresh broccoli
- 1 teaspoon Oil or 10 g butter
- 4 Discs Bacon in strips
- 1 small Diced onion
- 1 tablespoon Flour
- 125 ml Meatsoup
- 125 ml Milk
- Pepper from the grinder
- Salt
- 1 tablespoon Freshly squeezed lemon juice
- Cut away the thick stalk from the broccoli from under the florets. The thick stem can be peeled and used (we didn’t use it). Put the head in a steamer, place in a saucepan and bring to the boil, covered with 2 cups of water. Cook in steam for about 10 minutes.
- During this time, fry the bacon strips with onion cubes in the oil (or butter) until they start to brown. Sprinkle with flour, sweat for about 2 minutes and gradually deglaze with stock and milk, stirring constantly. Season with pepper, salt and lemon juice. Then let the sauce simmer gently for 7 minutes.
- Lift the broccoli from the steamer onto a platter and serve with the ham sauce covered. I served it with a chicken breast in a fruity sauce with potatoes.
