Ingredients

  • 1 head Fresh broccoli
  • 1 tsp Oil or 10 g butter
  • 4 slices Bacon in strips
  • 1 small Diced onion
  • 1 tbsp Flour
  • 125 ml Meatsoup
  • 125 ml Milk
  • Pepper from the grinder
  • Salt
  • 1 tbsp Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions

  • Cut away the thick stalk from the broccoli from under the florets. The thick stem can be peeled and used (we didn't use it). Put the head in a steamer, place in a saucepan and bring to the boil, covered with 2 cups of water. Cook in steam for about 10 minutes.
  • During this time, fry the bacon strips with onion cubes in the oil (or butter) until they start to brown. Sprinkle with flour, sweat for about 2 minutes and gradually deglaze with stock and milk, stirring constantly. Season with pepper, salt and lemon juice. Then let the sauce simmer gently for 7 minutes.
  • Lift the broccoli from the steamer onto a platter and serve with the ham sauce covered. I served it with a chicken breast in a fruity sauce with potatoes.
