Brussels sprouts and ham gratin

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 750 g Brussels sprouts
  • Salt and pepper, from the mill
  • Nutmeg, freshly grated
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 200 g cooked ham
  • 50 g Gruyère, freshly grated

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 25 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Clean the Brussels sprouts, trimming the stalks and making cross-shaped cuts. Wash the florets and place them in a pot with a little salted water. Season generously with nutmeg. Cover and simmer over low heat for about 15 minutes. Heat the butter in a small pan. Finely chop the onion and sauté until translucent. Dice the ham and sauté briefly. Preheat the oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat). Drain the Brussels sprouts and allow to drain. Place them in an ovenproof casserole dish. Sprinkle with pepper and spread the ham mixture on top. Sprinkle with Gruyère. Bake in the oven on the middle rack for about 10 minutes.
