My mother’s secret recipe

Combine buttermilk, egg yolks, cornstarch, sugar, and lemon zest in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil briefly. Season with lemon juice. Allow to cool, stirring frequently. Peel and slice the kiwi. Wash and slice the star fruit. Wash the currants and remove them from the stalks. Divide the buttermilk cold soup among 4 deep plates and garnish with the fruit.
