Casserole: Tomatoes – Mozzarella

The perfect casserole: tomatoes – mozzarella recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 800 g Garden tomatoes
  • 400 g Mozzarella
  • 3 Onions
  • Garlic fresh n. Taste
  • 6 Discs Whole grain toast
  • 125 ml Virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 branches Fresh thyme
  1. The first thing to do is to spread the baking dish. either with oil or butter.
  2. Now preheat the oven to 220 ° C.
  3. Wash the tomatoes and cut into slices approx. 1 / 2cm thick. also cut the mozzarella into 12 cm thick slices.
  4. Undress the onions and garlic. Dice the garlic and halve the onions and cut into half rings.
  5. Season the olive oil with salt and pepper and then add the onions and garlic.
  6. We now place the toasted bread slices in the greased dish. What does not fit is made to fit :-))
  7. We now put some of the olive oil on the slices of toast.
  8. Now the tomatoes with the mozzarella are placed on the toast like tiles.
  9. 9 again sprinkle with a little salt.
  10. Pour the remaining olive oil over the casserole and cover with onion rings.
  11. from the middle rail in the preheated oven. the casserole stays there for a good 30 minutes.the casserole does not get a real brownish color.
  12. at the very end, when the casserole comes out of the tube, we sprinkle it with the fresh thyme.

a tip at the end:

  1. on the second day we put grated gouda cheese over it and baked it with it. tasted much better :-))
