Cook the spaetzle according to the package instructions until al dente. In the meantime, peel the onions, slice them into rings, and sauté them in 2 tablespoons of fat until translucent. Wash and chop the parsley. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Grease a baking dish and toss the spaetzle, onions, parsley, and cheese into it. Season generously with salt, pepper, and chili, and bake in the oven at 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) for about 25 minutes. Cover with foil if the pasta starts to get too brown on top. While the pasta is baking, heat the butter in a pan and toast the breadcrumbs. Serve the finished cheese spaetzle with the toasted breadcrumbs and some chopped parsley. A delicious and quick-to-prepare low-calorie dish that can be complemented with some fried bacon or minced meat.
