Spread the love

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 60 g butter
  • 125 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • ½ lemon(s), grated peel
  • 150 g semolina
  • 150 g flour
  • 3 tsp, leveled baking powder
  • ¼ liter of milk
  • 500 g cherries

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Dessert with cherries in a semolina cake

Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy, then add the vanilla sugar, grated lemon zest, eggs, semolina, baking powder sifted with flour, and enough milk to form a smooth paste. Wash the cherries and stir them into the mixture. Bake in a greased casserole dish, with butter flakes on top, for 40 to 50 minutes (the “runnier” the batter, the longer!) at a good medium heat (approx. 170 to 180°C). Tip: The Kirschenmichel tastes especially delicious fresh and hot from the oven when topped with something like vanilla ice cream. A hot-and-cold treat!
