Chili con Carne my way

Spread the love

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 1 kg minced beef
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 chili peppers or habaneros, fresh
  • 3 tsp, heaped cumin powder
  • 4 tsp, heaped chili powder
  • 6 small cans of tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 small cans of kidney beans
  • 1 small can/n beans, white
  • 1 small can of corn
  • 200 ml wheat beer
  • 100 g tomato paste
  • 100 g dark chocolate
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 2 hours; Total time approx. 2 hours 20 minutes

Dice the onions, garlic, and chilies or habanero peppers and sauté until translucent. Add the cumin powder, chili powder, and tomato paste and fry briefly again until hot. Just before it starts to burn, add the ground beef and fry until hot, then add the wheat beer and simmer for about 10 minutes. Then add the chopped canned tomatoes, the cinnamon stick, salt, and pepper and simmer for 60-90 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then add the beans, corn, and chocolate and simmer for another 30 minutes. Of course, it tastes even better the second day! I like to serve it with guacamole and fresh pita bread.
