Chili – Lemon – Sardines

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g sardines, scaled and gutted
  • 4 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 clove(s) garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp red chili pepper(s), chopped
  • 4 tbsp olive oil
  • pepper
  • Salt

Instructions

Working time approx. 45 minutes; Rest time approx. 12 hours; Total time approx. 12 hours 45 minutes

Place the sardines skin-side up on a board and run your thumb along the spine. Turn the fish over and remove the bones. Place the fillets skin-side down in a shallow bowl and drizzle with lemon juice. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Drain off any excess lemon juice. Sprinkle the garlic, dill, and chili over the sardines. Season with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 12 hours.
