Chocolate – Heather Sand

The perfect chocolate – heather sand recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • For the dough:
  • 200 g Butter
  • 1 packet Vanilla sugar
  • 1 packet Orange peel
  • 120 g Sugar brown
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 20 g Cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoon Whipped cream
  • For the crust:
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon Milk
  • 60 g Sugar brown
  1. For the dough, slowly melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the vanilla sugar and orange peel. Now let everything brown lightly over a medium heat. Pour the melted butter into a bowl, let it cool and then put it in the refrigerator until it is firm again.
  2. Put the fat butter in a mixing bowl and whip with the pinch of salt and sugar for about five minutes until creamy. Add the flour, cocoa and cream and knead everything well. Divide the dough into three equal parts and shape into rolls approx. 20 cm long. Cover the rolls and chill overnight.
  3. Separate the egg and whisk the yolk with the milk. Brush the rolls all around with the egg mixture and sprinkle with the brown sugar. Now cut the rolls into approx. 1 cm thick slices.
  4. Place the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the baking sheet in the oven preheated to 170 degrees (convection 2 rails from below) and bake for about 12-15 minutes. After the baking time, take it out of the oven and let it cool down on the baking sheet.
