  • 100 g butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 145 g sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150 g flour
  • 55 g butter, soft
  • 2 tsp, heaped cocoa powder
  • 195 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

for the waffle iron

For the batter, chop the chocolate, cut the butter into cubes, and melt them together over a pan of simmering water. Remove from the pan and set aside. Beat the eggs with the sugar and vanilla extract until creamy. Add the flour and chocolate butter and stir in. Heat a waffle iron; I used one with heart-shaped waffles. If necessary, grease it with a little butter before use; I didn’t need to. Place about a heaped teaspoon of batter in the center of each heart, close the lid, and bake the cookies. They shouldn’t be too dark; remove from the pan and let cool on a wire rack. Continue baking until all the batter is used up. I made 25 cookies. Once the waffle cookies have cooled, mix the softened butter with the cocoa, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Transfer the frosting to a piping bag with a star tip. Pipe a few dots onto each cookie before serving. If you have any leftovers, store them covered in the refrigerator. Please only bake this batter in a waffle iron.
