Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 240 g flour
  • 40 g cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 55 g sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 60 g butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 475 ml buttermilk, room temperature
  • 100 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting
  • possibly butter, for frying

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

Preheat the waffle iron, chop the chocolate into small pieces, and briefly melt the butter in the microwave. Sift the flour and cocoa powder into a bowl. Whisk in the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a second bowl, whisk together the eggs, butter, vanilla extract, and buttermilk. Then stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture. Finally, fold in the finely chopped chocolate. Bake the waffle according to the waffle iron’s instructions. You may need additional butter for the waffle iron; I don’t need any. Dust the baked waffles with powdered sugar and serve them warm. The batter makes 12 large waffles for me.
