Ingredients for 3 servings:
- 1 jar morello cherries
- 270 g gelling sugar, 1 : 2
- 2 star anise
- 1 stalk(s) cinnamon
- 3 mulled wine bags
- 4 cl rum
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 10 minutes; Total time approx. 50 minutes
Coarsely puree the morello cherries in a food processor or with a hand blender (or finely, if desired). Then transfer all of the juice to a saucepan. Add the anise star, cinnamon stick, and mulled wine mix and bring to a boil. Immediately turn off the heat and let it steep for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then stir in the gelling sugar and rum and bring back to a boil. Simmer over low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Test for setting. Remove the mulled wine bag, anise star, and cinnamon stick. Empty the contents into the prepared glasses. This quantity makes approximately 3 glasses. If you want more, double or triple the quantity.
