Christmas sugar

Spread the love

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 2 cups of sugar, approx. 250 g
  • 1 stalk(s) cinnamon, small, crumbled
  • 4 cloves
  • 4 star anise, the seeds of which
  • 2 grains allspice
  • 1 lemon(s), organic, including the dried peel
  • 1 orange(s), organic, including the dried peel
  • 1 vanilla pod(s), scraped pulp, crushed pod
  • 2 cardamom pods, according to taste

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 15 minutes

First, finely grind the cinnamon, cloves, anise, allspice berries, and cardamom pods. Place the sugar in a blender (butler), blend with the dried orange and lemon peel, and the vanilla pod and seeds. Add the ground spices and blend everything again. This should create a very fine powdered sugar. Pour the powdered sugar through a fine-mesh sieve into a screw-top jar. There are ALWAYS a few thicker pieces left over. I put these pieces in tea filters. You can place them on top of the sugar so they still release some of the flavor, or you can use them as spice bags in things like red cabbage, applesauce, or game sauces. The sugar refines punch, tea, coffee, and cocoa. You can use it to flavor sauces, desserts, and baked goods.
