  • 225 g wheat flour type 405
  • 225 g wheat flour type 550
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 packet of dry yeast
  • 250 ml cola, room temperature
  • 3 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 egg(s), for brushing

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour 40 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 35 minutes

A sweet pastry with cola

Sift both types of flour with sugar, salt, and dried yeast. Mix the oil with the cola, pour it over the flour, and mix everything together. Knead the dough well for about 5 minutes. Then lightly brush the bowl with a little oil, place the dough in it, cover with foil, and let it rise for 1 hour, until it has doubled in size. Press the dough together slightly and divide it into 3 equal pieces. Then, using your hands, shape these into rolls about 40 cm long. Line a baking tray with baking paper, place the 3 rolls on it in a fan shape, and braid them into a plait. Press the ends together and tuck them under the dough. Cover the plait on the tray and let it rise for 30 to 40 minutes. Preheat the oven to 190°C (top/bottom heat). Brush the plait with well-beaten egg and bake for about 30 to 35 minutes. Let it cool on a wire rack.
