Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 700 g potatoes, boiled, peeled
  • 180 g white cabbage or savoy cabbage, cut into strips
  • 2 slice(s) smoked streaky bacon
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 small onion(s), finely diced
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour

Irish potato and cabbage mash with bacon

Mash the potatoes. Cook the cabbage and bacon in 1/8 liter of water until very soft, drain, and pass through a sieve (without the bacon). Sauté the onions and butter, add the mashed potatoes and cabbage, mix thoroughly, and season with salt and pepper. Serve with the bacon cut into thumb-thick pieces.
