Colorful Christmas Tree Balls
The perfect colorful christmas tree balls recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.
Dough:
- 270 g Flour
- 50 g Powdered sugar
- 80 g Ground hazelnuts
- 0,25 tsp Salt
- 150 g Butter
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 1 tbsp Whiskey
Cover:
- 120 g Currant jelly
- Water
- Various colorful sprinkles of your choice
- Mix the flour, powdered sugar, ground hazelnuts and salt in a bowl. Mix the butter and honey until frothy. Add the flour mixture and whiskey, use the dough hook of the hand mixer to crumble everything and then knead it with your hands to form a smooth dough.
- Line a large board that fits in the refrigerator with baking paper. Then roll the dough into balls of approx. 17 g and place them on the board. For me it made a serving of 33 pieces. Put the board with the balls in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours (but overnight is better).
- When the balls have cooled down well and have become very hard, preheat the oven to 180 ° O / bottom heat. Line a baking sheet with baking paper and place the balls on it with a little space between them. The baking time is 13 minutes on the 2nd rail from the bottom. The balls only rise slightly and should keep their light color. After baking, leave the paper to cool on a wire rack.
Cover:
- In the meantime, put the jelly in a saucepan with 7 teaspoons of water over a mild heat. Fill several bowls with different colored sprinkles and set them ready. Then always turn a ball briefly in the liquid jelly, roll it immediately in a kind of streusel and put it back on the board that is still covered with the baking paper. Then let them all dry well.
- If the jelly keeps solidifying while rolling the balls, heat it up briefly in between to make it liquid.
- If you don’t like to use alcohol, you can replace it with orange juice.
- These small, delicious balls are made quickly – except for the long cooling time – and an eye-catcher on the cookie plate.
